Formatting a USB flash drive

To use a new USB flash drive or a USB flash drive that you used on a different device (such as a computer), you must format (initialize) it first.

NOTE

When you format a USB flash drive, all data on the USB flash drive is erased. Back up any necessary data beforehand.

  1. Turn off the power.
  2. Connect the USB flash drive you want to format to the USB Memory port.
  3. Turn on the power while holding down the [ò] button, and keep holding down the [ò] button for at least three seconds.
  4. The USB flash drive is ready for formatting (the [ò] and [ó] buttons blink).
  5. Press the [ò] button if you wish to cancel the format.
  6. Press the [ó] button.
  7. This formats the USB flash drive.
  8. Once the [Piano]–[Split] buttons light up, the operation is complete.
  9. Turn the power off and then on again.
