Changing how the sounds play when a song (SMF) is playing back (SMF Play Mode)

This shows how to change the way the sounds play when you are playing the keyboard while an SMF (Standard MIDI File) song is playing back.

Normally, you should use the default “Auto Select” setting.

  1. Press one of the A1–B1 keys while holding down the [Function] button.

A notification sound is heard, and the setting changes.

Explanation

A1 (Auto Select)

The setting switches automatically to either “Internal” or “External”, according to the song that plays back (default setting).

A´1 (Internal)

This setting is recommended when you are playing the keyboard along with a song that was recorded on this piano.

The tone that the keyboard plays is the same as the tone used in the song that plays back.

  • Changing the tone of the keyboard may change the tone of the song being played.
  • The damper pedal effects used by the keyboard and by the song may influence each other.

B1 (External)

This setting is recommended if you are playing the keyboard along with an SMF song that plays back from a USB flash drive or an external device.

The keyboard can be used to play the tone you selected on the piano. The pedals only affect what you play on the keyboard.
