Connecting the BOSS TONE STUDIO Android app to the GX-100 unit
- Turn on the GX-100 and your mobile device.
- Place the mobile device that you want to connect nearby the GX-100.
- In your mobile device’s settings, turn Bluetooth on.
NOTE
Even if the “Available devices” list shows “GX-100”, don’t tap it.
- Launch the “BOSS TONE STUDIO for GX-100” app that you installed on your mobile device.
- The “Terms of Use” screen is shown.
- This screen only appears when the app launches for the first time.
- Click “ACCEPT” to agree to the contents after you’ve read them.
- Tap [Bluetooth MIDI DEVICE] that appears in the screen, and then tap “GX-100”.
- The display shows “GX-100 MIDI” (1–9).
- Verify that “*” is shown at the upper right of the number.
- If “GX-100” is not shown, tap “SCAN” at the very bottom of the Bluetooth Devices screen, and search again.
- Tap the Android back button to return to the previous screen.
- Verify that “GX-100” is shown for “CONNECT”.
- Tap [OK] to start communication.
If you can’t connect
Problem | What to check and do | |

“GX-100” does not show up in the Bluetooth device list on my mobile device | The Bluetooth function might be turned off (disabled). | Bluetooth is enabled when you press the pairing button on the BT-DUAL. Can’t connect to Bluetooth audio | If the “GX-100” is shown in the Bluetooth device list on your mobile device | Temporarily deregister (unpair) the device in the mobile device’s Bluetooth settings. Turn Bluetooth off and then on, and try pairing again. |
If “GX-100” is not shown in the Bluetooth device list of your mobile device | Turn the mobile device’s Bluetooth function off and then on again, and initiate pairing from the GX-100 to re-establish pairing. | |
Can’t connect to the app | After unpairing the “GX-100 MIDI” that is registered on the mobile device, turn the mobile device’s Bluetooth function off and then on again, and reconnect it from within the app (BOSS TONE STUDIO for GX-100)’s settings. | |
In your mobile device’s Bluetooth setting screen, you tap “GX-100 MIDI” but can’t connect to the app | Make the connection from the settings of the app (BOSS TONE STUDIO for GX-100), not from your mobile device’s Bluetooth settings. | |
You pressed the BT-DUAL’s pairing button, but can’t connect to the app | You cannot connect simply by press the pairing button on the BT-DUAL. In the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device, turn the Bluetooth function on, and then connect from the settings of the app (BOSS TONE STUDIO for GX-100). | |
Can’t connect to a paired mobile device | If the connection fails immediately after it is established, temporarily turning the mobile device’s Bluetooth switch off and then on again may fix the connection. |
