A.Piano Edit Parameter

Piano Designer

Parameter

Explanation

Lid

Adjusts the extent to which the top lid of the grand piano is open, which changes the brightness of the sound.

Increasing the value creates a brighter sound, with the piano lid opened wider.

String Reso

On an acoustic piano, playing the key on the keyboard makes the strings of the keys already being played resonate. The function that simulates this resonance is called “string resonance”.
Larger values make the effect more prominent.

Damper Reso

Adjusts the damper resonance (the sound of other strings vibrating in sympathy when you press the damper pedal) of the acoustic piano when the damper pedal is pressed.

Higher settings produce louder sympathetic resonance.

Hammer Noise

Adjusts the sound produced when the hammer of an acoustic piano strikes the string.

Higher settings will produce a louder sound of the hammer striking the string.

Duplex Scale

Adjusts the resonated sound of the duplex scale (aliquot) of the acoustic piano.
Higher settings make the sympathetic vibration louder.

MEMOWhat is a duplex scale (aliquot)?

This is a method of making the front and back parts of the string resonate.
As resonating overtones, these aliquot strings add richness and brilliance to the sound.
Since the front and back parts of the string do not have a damper (a mechanism that stops them from sounding), they keep resonating even after you play a note and then release it to stop the sound of the string that was struck.

Key Off Reso

Adjusts the resonance of the subtle sounds that occur when a key of an acoustic piano is released. Higher settings produce louder sympathetic resonance.

Cabinet Reso

Adjusts the body resonance of the grand piano itself.

Higher values produce more body resonance.

Sound Board Reso

When you play a chord, each of the notes that make up the chord is clearly defined to create a beautiful sound.

Increasing the value creates a sound with greater clarity.

Damper Noise

Adjusts the damper noise of the acoustic piano sound (the sound of the damper releasing the strings when you press the damper pedal).
Higher values produce a louder string release sound.

Key Off Noise

Adjusts the resonance of the subtle sounds that occur when a key of an acoustic piano is released.

Higher settings produce louder sympathetic resonance.

Stereo Width

Adjusts the stereo spread of the sound.

Brightness

Adjusts the brightness of the sound.

Tuning

Use these parameters to fine-tune each key.
Press the key that you want to adjust, and then change the value.

Parameter

Explanation

Tuning Type

Type of tuning used

OFF: no tuning is used

PRESET: the tuning curve that is preset for the V-STAGE

USER: Lets you set the tuning for each key on the keyboard.

Value

Fine-tunes the tuning of each key in 0.1 cent increments, from -50.0 to +50.0 cents.

Volume

These parameters fine-tune the volume for each key.
Press the key that you want to adjust, and then change the value.

Parameter

Explanation

Level Type

OFF: volume not used

PRESET: This is the volume that is preset for the V-STAGE.

USER: Sets the volume for each key on the keyboard.

Value

Lower values make the notes sound quieter than other keys.

Character

Fine-tunes the tonal character for each key.
Press the key that you want to adjust, and then change the value.

Parameter

Explanation

Character Type

OFF: character not used

PRESET: This is the tonal character that is preset for the V-STAGE.

USER: Sets the tonal character for each key on the keyboard.

Value

Higher settings produce a harder tone, and lower settings produce a softer tone.

Level Pan

Parameter

Explanation

LEVEL

Volume of the A.Piano part

PAN

Pan of the A.Piano part

Rx Ch

MIDI channel on which data is received by the A.Piano part

Part EQ

Parameter

Explanation

Switch

Sets whether to use the part EQ (an equalizer applied to each part) (ON) or not (OFF).

Input Gain

Amount of boost/cut for the input to the EQ

Low Gain

Amount of low range boost/cut

Low Freq

Center frequency of the low range

Mid Gain

Amount of boost/cut for the mid range

Mid Freq

Center frequency of the mid range

Mid Q

Bandwidth of the mid-frequency range. Higher values make the bandwidth narrower.

High Gain

Amount of high range boost/cut

High Freq

Center frequency of the high range

Velocity

Parameter

Explanation

Velocity Max

The maximum velocity value available when you play the keyboard
When you lower this value, the volume does not increase too much even when you play the keyboard hard.

This may have no effect, depending on the selected tone.

Pitch

Parameter

Explanation

Transpose

Shifts the note numbers that are transmitted from the keyboard to the internal sound engine or external device.

Fine Tune

Finely adjusts the pitch in units of one cent.

Control

Parameter

Explanation

Hold

Sets whether the hold pedal works on the part (ON) or does not (OFF).

MIDI Rx Filter

Parameter

Explanation

Rx PC

Sets whether program change messages are received (ON) or not (OFF).

Rx Bank

Sets whether to receive Bank Select (ON) or not (OFF).

Rx Bend

Sets whether pitch bend messages are received (ON) or not (OFF).

Rx Poly Pres

Sets whether to receive polyphonic aftertouch (ON) or not (OFF).

Rx Ch Pres

Sets whether to receive channel aftertouch (ON) or not (OFF).

Rx Mod

Sets whether to receive modulation (ON) or not (OFF).

Ext Out

Parameter

Explanation

MIDI Tx Port

Connector for output of MIDI messages sent by the Ext part of A.Piano

Tx Channel

Sets the channel for transmitting MIDI messages sent by the Ext part of A.Piano.

External MSB(CC#0)

Input the program number or bank select MSB/LSB as a number to make the external MIDI device switch between tones.

The value you set is transmitted when you switch scenes. Messages are not transmitted when “---” is selected.

External LSB(CC#32)

External PC

Ext Lev/Pan

Parameter

Explanation

External Volume

Transmits volume, pan, and other MIDI messages to the external device.

The value you set is transmitted when you switch scenes. Messages are not transmitted when “---” is selected.

External Pan

External Chorus

External Reverb

Ext Range

Velocity Rng Up

Ext Offset

Transmits MIDI messages for switching tones to the external device. The value you set is transmitted when you switch scenes. Messages are not transmitted when “---” is selected.

Parameter

Explanation

External Cutoff

Adjusts the filter’s cutoff frequency. Increasing this value makes the sound brighter, and decreasing it makes the sound darker.

External Reso

Emphasizes the portion of the sound in the region of the cutoff frequency, adding character to the sound. Excessively high settings can produce oscillation, causing the sound to distort. Increasing this value strengthens the character, and decreasing it weakens the character.

External Attack

Adjusts the time over which the sound reaches its maximum volume after you press the key. Larger values make the attack gentler, and smaller settings make the attack sharper.

External Decay

Adjusts the time over which the volume decreases from its maximum value. Larger settings of this value make the decay longer, and smaller settings make the decay shorter.

External Release

The time it takes after the key is released for a sound to become inaudible. Larger settings of this value make the sound linger, and smaller settings make the sound end more abruptly.

Ext Mon/Pol

Parameter

Explanation

External Mono/Poly

Sends a MIDI message (MONO/POLY) to set how the tone is to be played to the external device.
POLY: polyphonic
MONO: monophonic
The value you set is transmitted when you switch scenes. Messages are not transmitted when “---” is selected.
