Connecting the DWe DrumLink hub to the SPD-SX PRO

  1. Use a USB cable (commercially available) to connect the USB MEMORY port of the SPD-SX PRO to the DWe DrumLink hub.
  2. NOTE

Do not place the DrumLink hub on top of the sound module. Place it on a nearby table or on the floor. When connecting, use a commercially available USB cable of the required length.

  3. The following message is shown once you connect the DrumLink hub.
  4. Use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to select “OK”, and press the [ENTER] button.
  5. This switches to the DrumLink - HUB screen.

Pairing the DrumLink hub with the DWe pads

You must pair the DrumLink hub with the DWe pads when you first connect them. You don’t need to do this if you’ve already paired the DrumLink hub with the DWe pads.

  1. Select [MENU] Ó “SYSTEM”.
  2. Use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to select “PAD/TRIG IN” and press the [ENTER] button.
  3. The PAD / TRIG IN screen appears.
  4. Press the [F6] (DrumLink) button.
  5. The DrumLink screen appears.
  6. Press the [F1] (HUB) button to display the DrumLink - HUB screen.
  7. If the [F6] button’s function name is shown as “DrumLink OFF”, press the [F6] (DrumLink) button to change it to “DrumLink ON”.
  8. MEMO

If the [F6] (DrumLink) button is not shown, you can make it appear by moving the cursor to the parameters (such as RF Channel) on the left side of the screen.

  9. Press the [F5] (PAIRING) button, and strike each DWe pad once that you want to pair.
  10. Once the pads or cymbals are paired, a message like the following appears.
  11. * You don’t need to strike each pad more than once.
  12. To access the DWe pad setup screen after pairing, press the [EXIT] button and then one of the [F2] (BASIC)–[F4] (OPT/ADV) buttons.

NOTE

The parameters of each DWe pad are not stored in the SPD-SX PRO, but are stored in each DWe pad. Note that just changing a parameter does not apply the setting to the pad. You must strike the applicable pad to apply the setting. For details, refer to “Adjusting the DWe pad sensitivity”.

MEMO

  1. After pairing, the information for each DWe pad is stored in memory on the DrumLink hub. The units automatically pair when you restart the SPD-SX PRO or connect the DrumLink™ hub to a different SPD-SX PRO, so there’s no need to pair manually.
  2. Although pairing is not necessary after restarting this unit, you must strike the pad you want to set once to make it show up on the pad settings screen.
  3. To exchange a DWe pad, unpair the pad you no longer need and then pair with the new pad.

Configuring the DWe pad assignment

This shows how to specify the pad or trigger input to which a connected DWe pad should be assigned.

The optimal assignments are already made when you first connect each pad. The following explains how to change the assigned destinations (assignments).

  2. Use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to select “PAD/TRIG IN” and press the [ENTER] button.

  2. Make sure to calibrate the DWe snare head if you’ve adjusted its tension.

Adjusting the DWe pad sensitivity

Each DWe pad is already set up with the optimal sensitivity when shipped from the factory.
Adjust the DWe pad sensitivity if you need to make more detailed settings or use DWe pads together with Roland pads.

For details on each parameter, refer to “TRIGGER BASIC, CURVE, OPTIONS/ADVANCED”.

  6. Press the [F2] (BASIC) button or the [F3] (CURVE) button to display the DrumLink - TRIGGER BASIC screen or the DrumLink - TRIGGER CURVE screen.
  7. Strike to select the DWe pad that you want to set.
  8. You can also use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to move the cursor, and use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to select the DWe pad to set.
  9. Use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to select a parameter, and use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to edit the value.
  10. Strike the selected pad once to apply the parameter.
  11. Simply changing the parameter does not apply the settings to the pad. When an asterisk appears as shown below, this means that the settings haven’t yet been applied to the pad.
  12. Strike the applicable pad to apply the settings. The asterisk disappears once the settings are applied to the pad.

MEMO

  1. When using DWe pads together with Roland pads, note that their respective sensitivities may differ. In this case, you can mainly adjust the Sensitivity, Curve and Dynamics parameters for the DWe pads to make the respective sensitivities about the same.
  1. Press the [F6] (DEFAULT) button.
  2. A confirmation message appears.
  3. Use the cursor [à] [á] [ã] [â] buttons to select “OK”, and press the [ENTER] button to begin initializing.
