Assigning each sample to a bus
You can assign the output destination for each sample to either BUS 1, BUS 2 or DRY.
The BUS 1 and BUS 2 effects are not applied to samples that are assigned to DRY.
Switching between buses (which are output destinations for the samples) lets you select the samples for which effects are applied, as well as set a specific sample as the source or target for side chain compression.

MEMO
- Refer to “Bus routings” for the bus specifications on the SP-404MK2.
- Long-press the [REMAIN] button.
- Pads [1]–[16] light up while you are holding down the button, and the output destination for each sample is indicated by a color.
MEMO
- When using the factory settings, orange indicates BUS 1, green indicates BUS 2, and white indicates output to DRY.
- You can change these three colors for the output destination bus (BUS COLOR) to the colors you like.
Ó “PAD SETTING”
- Press pads [1]–[16] while holding down the [REMAIN] button to change the output destination bus.
- Each press of a pad toggles the output destination between the bus that’s selected by the [BUS FX] button (BUS 1/BUS 2) and DRY.
- Thus, to set the sample that’s set in BUS 1 to BUS 2, use the [BUS FX] button to select BUS 2 and then perform the above operation.
MEMO
- By pressing one of the BANK [A/F]–[E/J] buttons while holding down the [REMAIN] button, you can set all of the output destination buses at once for all samples in that bank.
- By pressing the [EXT SOURCE] button while holding down the [REMAIN] button, you can set the output destination bus for the external input (INPUT, LINE IN).
At this time, the [EXT SOURCE] button indicates BUS 1 (when lit), BUS 2 (when blinking) or output to DRY (when dark).
