Panel descriptions

Front panel

  1. [SELECT] knob
  2. Moves the cursor.
  3. [GEAR SUITE] button (LOCK: HOLD)
  4. Accesses the GEAR SUITE function.
  5. Long-press this button while the play screen is displayed to turn the lock feature on/off. This feature prevents the knobs or buttons from being accidentally operated when you’re playing.
  6. [FX1]–[FX4] buttons
  7. Turns the FX1 through FX4 blocks on/off.
  8. This selects FX1–FX4 on the play screen.
  9. Long-press these buttons to show a list of parameters for each block.
  10. [1]–[3] knobs
  11. Turn the knobs to change the parameter values or press the knobs to select items, according to the screen display.
  12. [MENU/EXIT] button (WRITE: HOLD)
  13. Press this button while the play screen is shown to access the menu page.
  14. When on other screens besides the play screen, press this to go back to the previous screen or to cancel an operation (exit).
  15. Long-press to access the WRITE MENU screen.
  16. [TYPE/VALUE] knob (ENTER: PUSH)
  17. This knob changes the value at the cursor position or the effect type of the effect block.
  18. Pressing this works like pressing the ENTER button.
  19. [É/1] , [Ç/2] switches
  20. Use these switches to switch between memories and to turn effect blocks on/off.Ó “Footswitch/expression pedal settings (ASSIGN)”
  21. Press both switches at the same time to change the FSW mode (footswitch mode).
  22. The indicator colors and illumination change according to the functions that are assigned to the [É/1] , [Ç/2] switches.

 

Rear panel

  1. INPUT L/MONO
  2. Connect your guitar or the output(s) from an external effect unit here.
  3. When connecting the outputs from a stereo effect unit to the inputs of this unit, connect the jack for the L channel signal here.
  4. INPUT R (RETURN)
  5. Connect the jack from the stereo effect unit for the R channel signal here.
  6. When using the send/return feature, connect the output from the external effect loop here.
  7. OUTPUT L/MONO
  8. Connect this to the input of your amp or an external effect unit. If using a mono connection, connect only to the L/MONO jack.
  9. When connecting to the inputs of a stereo effect unit, connect to the input jack for the L channel.
  10. OUTPUT R (SEND)
  11. Connect this to the R channel input jack of a second amplifier or stereo effect unit.
  12. When using the send/return feature, connect to the inputs of the external effect loop here.
  13. CTL1(3),2(4)/EXP jack
  14. Connect an external footswitch or expression pedal here.
  15. MIDI OUT/IN
  16. Connect an external MIDI device here.
  17. Connect the MIDI OUT to the input of an external MIDI device. Connect the MIDI IN to the output of the external MIDI device.
  18. USB
  19. Use a USB cable to connect to a computer, for exchanging MIDI data between the EX-4 and the computer.
  20. DC IN
  21. Connect the included AC adaptor (PSA-S series) here.
  22. The DC IN jack also serves as the power switch. The power turns on whenever a plug is inserted into the DC IN jack, and turns off when the plug is disconnected.
  23. Ground/earth connector
  24. Connect this to an external earth or ground. This should be connected when necessary.
